Bonsai for Beginners
Try this class first!

Program cost: $10.00 plus cost of bonsai starter plant and pot. Training wire, bonsai soil mix and pruners will be supplied.

Learn the best way to start seeds in and out of the garden. Let Heinz Brothers help you select seeds that will give you a plentiful harvest, fragrant cut flowers or a little bit of both.

Improving Your Home Landscaping
We will discuss basic design principles, soil conditions, proper plant placement, pruning techniques, and new plants to try in any area of your yard.

Kids plant your own Spring Flowers! (ages 5 and up)
Heinz Brothers will instruct you on which flowers can handle the cold during our spring temperatures. Class will include planter, soil, fertilizer and spring blooming plants.

Spring Container Planting Party!
Let the staff of Heinz Brothers Greenhouse help you create a beautiful flowering container for springtime. The plant material used will be colorful and cold tolerant for our challenging spring season. Potting soil, fertilizer, plant material and container included in cost.

Program cost: $15.00, plus materials: 10” container $25.00, 12” container $35.00, and a 14” container $45.00.

Heinz Brothers will show you how to plant seeds and care for different and fun plants. Each child will take home a mini greenhouse with a mixture of vegetables, flowers and cactus seeds to grow on at home.

Do you want to grow your own fresh vegetables but don’t know where to start, then this class is for you! Learn the best and easiest way to start vegetables, grow and harvest.

Vegetables in Containers!
Learn how to have a vegetable garden without the garden. Heinz Brothers will give you tips on planting, combinations and after care to be successful in container gardening.

Kids plant your own Vegetables (Ages 5 and up)
Each child will plant 4 different vegetables in one container. Kids will be more eager to eat the vegetables they grow and care for. Program fee: $ 15.00.

Children’s Herb Class (Ages 5 and up)
Each child will learn about fun and different herbs that will fit their taste buds. Each child will plant 3 herbs in a container to take home and enjoy. Care and upkeep will be discussed.

Program fee: $15.00.

Growing and Using Herbs fresh from the Garden!
Learn about the different uses of herbs in the garden. Soil preparation, plant selection, growing requirements and fertilization will be discussed.

Kids: Grow your own climbing plants! (Ages 5 and up)
Each child will construct a small teepee in a pot and choose from a different flower or vegetable to watch grow up their teepee. Care of each plant and watering will be discussed.

Program fee: $12.00.

Plant up your own Water Garden Bowl.
Have a water feature close to home. No digging required! A plastic water tight bowl and water plants suitable for your bowl will be selected and planted. Choose from interesting and flowering water plants. Care and maintenance will be discussed for your water garden.

Program fee: $45.00, (includes water bowl, one floating water plant, and three potted water plants, soil and fertilizer)

Learn how to attract hummingbirds to your Garden!
Hummingbird feeders, shrubs, perennials, annuals and tropical plants for sun and shade will be discussed. Participants will take home an annual flowering plant to help them attract hummingbirds.

Saturday, June 5, 2010, 10-11am.

Kids learn how to attract hummingbirds into your garden. (Ages 4 and up)
Each child will receive a plant to take home that will attract hummingbirds. We will also learn about the hummingbird, why them move so fast, and what type of flowers they look for in your garden.

Learn how to attract butterflies to your Garden!
Butterfly attracting plants, design and maintenance will all be discussed. Participants will take home an annual flowering plant to help them attract butterflies.

Each child will receive a plant to take home that will attract butterflies. We will also learn about butterflies, and what type of flowers they look for in your garden.

Kids come paint your own red, white and blue masterpiece on a pot and we will help you fill the pot with a red, white or blue flowering plants.
